Since 2005, Tranter has been part of the Alfa Laval Group as an independent brand and company.
The technology and standards of the center were replicated in the USA, China and India and subsequently developed as a test bench for the verification of advanced manufacturing processes and equipment. With the acquisition of the German plate manufacturer Pressko in 2008, not only a product line but also a „Welded Competence Center“ was created. These include acquisitions of distributors in China and Poland, start-ups in Brazil, the Middle East and Russia. The company has made significant investments in research and development, innovative manufacturing processes, manufacturing capacity and acquisitions, adding product lines and geographical presence in the first decade of the new century. In the 1990s, Tranter’s vision became global with the acquisition of the Swedish Reheat and SWEP plate heat exchanger product lines and its representative network in Europe, Asia and Australia.Īround the turn of the century, Tranter made a rapid journey towards global predominance in heat exchange technology. PLATECOIL Versatility To accommodate increasing demand for unique, one-of-a-kind, custom PLATE-COIL prime surface heat exchange prod-ucts, Tranter offers a full-time designer and an advanced, dedicated die shop, capable of producing and main-taining a wide variety of short run and high volume custom tooling. By the mid 1980s, Tranter had relocated all production to Wichita Falls and concentrated production exclusively on the two plate heat exchanger lines.
In 1972 through a license agreement Tranter added SUPERCHANGER® gasketed plate heat exchangers to its line. Tranter began moving from Lansing to this factory. In 1967, the company acquired a plant in Wichita Falls, Texas, and added oilfield equipment to its product line. In the late 1940s, the company PLATECOIL® developed Prime Surface Heat Exchangers as immersion heaters or coolers and as replacement plates, integral or attached to process vessels. The company, with a factory based in Lansing, MI, USA, was bought five years later by J. Engineering Shapes PLATECOIL® Efficiency PLATECOIL® Prime Surface Heat Exchangers combine flexibility and functionality to deliver more efficient, economical and uniform heating and cooling to any application. Olds, who founded a company in 1932 to manufacture eutectic plates for refrigerated delivery vans.
